Davines Oi products are a phenomenal addition to the already amazing Davines Essentials line. This beautifying line is formulated to be hyper moisturizing to hair and have a phenomenal scent.

Oi Shampoo, Conditioner, and More!
What a name this ultra-premium line has in Oi. Does it bring to mind punk rock anthems of the past? Nothing could be further from the true purpose and mastery of formulation that is Oi. The sleek packaging calls to mind the cosmic forces of Yin and Yang and the perpetual chain of exchange between passive and active elements.
Davines has created this line to be a synthesis of state-of-the-art science, allowing it to be the perfect balance between softness, body and shine. This makes the whole line a “complete package” when it comes to hair health and beauty!
Roucou Oil- The secret weapon in your fight for hair health.
Derived from the fruit of the achiote plant found in the Amazon rain forest, this shrub gives off heart shaped fruit loaded with the oil-rich seeds that Davines sustainably harvests in order to bring the Oi line to life.
Roucou is 100 times richer in beta-carotene than carrots, and its oil helps to stimulate the production of melanin (this being responsible for your hair’s color). No, it won’t decrease the amount of gray that you see (sad face). Roucou also contains ellagic acid which neutralizes free radicals, and it’s a strong anti-oxidant properties that helps to protect your hair from those harmful UV rays. Looking at you my Arizona peeps!
What Does the Oi line do for my hair?
All of the benefits of the Roucou seed are given life through the expert manipulation of cosmetic ingredients. These ingredients are perfected by chemists specifically to give Oi products the ability to prevent aging in both your hair and skin, as well as provide UV protection and enhanced elasticity.
What products are in the Oi product line?
At my salon we carry the Oi oil, shampoo, conditioner, and the All-In-One Milk. I do not carry the lotion or body wash so I will leave my opinion on those products out. (I have used both, and they felt great, but I do not have the extensive experience that I do with the rest of the line.)
Everything Oi:
Oi Oil- The Original Super Hair Oil.
Every single one of us stylists at the salon loves using Oi Oil. It is a must-have product for any client with the exception of those with the finest of hair textures. The oil’s blend of Roucou oil and super lightweight silicones leaves hair not only ridiculously shiny, but also soft and smelling amazeballs!
Behind the Oi All-In One Milk, (I’ll get to that soon), this is my most used product in the salon. I love it because it helps me dry my client’s hair quickly and with control over the texture, regardless of what it is. I die for the fact that it is so light, and that it doesn’t suck all the volume out of my styles; even on soft textures.
I usually add 4-6 pumps on medium to thick hair when I am going for a sleek style, and it has yet to let me down! On fine hair, I put 1-2 pumps in just to enhance the feeling through the ends because I love the shine factor it adds to the hair. Maximum shine is never ever EVER a bad thing!
Oi All-In-One Milk: Everybody’s Favorite!
Every line I have ever worked with has that one product that you can recommend to everyone and never see in the returns pile. In the Davines line, that product is 100% Oi All-in-One Milk. It is a fabulous leave-in conditioner, detangler, protectant, and it smells sooooo good.
Outside of a few unique cases, at the salon we all use All-in-One Milk on all of our clients. It does a phenomenal job detangling clients’ hair, which is always a plus when you do so many colored clients whose natural hair may or may not be super tangled. I have my wife using this product at our house, and if that doesn’t tell you how much I love it, I don’t know what will!
As a stylist I like that it is lightweight and versatile. It leaves my clients hair soft and prepared for the rest of the products I will be using on them. I like that it smells great but is not obtrusive in its scent. I love that my clients enjoy it so much and that they can feel the improvement in their hair within a couple days of using it. The only complaint I have from a professional stand point is that I wish it came in a large size, because we burn through this product with reckless abandon!
It’s great for all of you out there, except the finest of hair. If volume is a higher priority in your style then making your hair as healthy as possible, the DEDE leave-in would be a better option for you. It is a lot lighter, but it is not quite as conditioning as the Oi All-In-One Milk is.
Oi Shampoo: Luxury for All.
Oi Shampoo is one of my salon’s favorite shampoos to use on our clients. It’s color safe, UV protecting, smells amazing, helps with aging, and moisturizes the heck out of our client’s hair. While it is a bit heavier on the hair then our lighter Davines options, it is not overly so. I don’t tend to use Oi Shampoo on client’s who have issues with volume, but for every other client it is absolutely a valid option.
My favorite clients to use this on are those with their hair care in a generally good state. It amplifies all the good things in your hair and can provide some minor corrections to the hair’s overall health. For my colored hair clients, it pushes the moisture back into their hair and makes for a spectacular level of softness in the hair.
Oi Conditioner: The Perfect Partner.
Where Oi Shampoo goes Oi Conditioner should always follow. I am a huge supporter of using product families all together. This, in client speak, is using all of the products from a line or sub-line, like Oi. The benefit of using the whole line is that you get the maximum dosage of the good stuff (*cough* Roucou *cough*).
I love this conditioner because it is so softening and does a great job pumping that moisture into the hair. We use and recommend Oi Conditioner on all of our clients that get the shampoo. It just smells sooo good! We have to constantly bring in the Oi products into the salon because of how popular they are.
