So, it’s getting to be an extremely got Summer here in Chandler, AZ. If you’re anything like me, every time you walk outside you consider chopping all of your hair off! Now, when I say ALL of your hair, I of course don’t mean going all-out and shaving your head. There are lots of other beautiful short hair cut options out there!
From lobs to pixie cuts and everything in-between, short hair is beautiful and elegant in its own way. Whether you’re looking for an edgy undercut or a soft chin-length bob, there is a special haircut out there just waiting for you to make the chop. I know that making such a big appearance change can be nerve-racking, so here are some beautiful cuts to inspire you and make the change more exciting!
Bold & Beautiful
1.- The Lob
Ah, the glory of going “short” without your hair being *too* short is revealed in the Lob. What is a lob?! It’s a made-up word that translates to “long bob”. I love this particular picture because of the layering and the wavy style. If you’re looking for a change from your norm, this is an easy start to wearing short hair!
This is a low-maintenance, versatile, easy-to-grow-out hairstyle. With a lob you can still use your favorite hot tools, and you can still throw your hair up in a ponytail! If you try a cut like this and find that you want more change, it would be easy to transition to almost any style. (Growing out long hair will always take longer than chopping more off, unfortunately.)
2.- Box Bob
If you’re looking for a cut that’s short and unique but easy to grow out (just in case), the box bob is for you! You can rock this look with or without some cute bangs, but personally, I really like the bangs. This look is soft, sophisticated, and rock n’ roll all at once! Have your stylist add in some layers for added texture if you prefer, or wear this look a inch or two below the chin if you don’t want to go too short.
The hardest part of a lot of ladies about trying a short hairstyle is kissing the ponytails and braids goodbye. Although this style change takes away a lot of fun styling options, short hair has its options too! You can still give yourself some curls, beachy waves, small braids, or opt for the flat iron; so don’t let styling get you down!
3.- Chin-Length Layered Bob (Asymmetrical)
I’m such a fan of wavy, textured haircuts that I couldn’t resist throwing this one out there; the layered bob! You’re going to want some sea salt spray and some extra-texturizing products for this cut if you like to wear the disheveled look. In the picture above the cut is a little asymmetrical, but it would be just as beautiful if it were cut one length!
This haircut still gives you a lot of length to work with if you enjoy styling your hair, but it also gives you quick and easy options! Not to mention this cut would not be too much of a hassle to grow out. This is a cut that’s begging the wearer to play with new styling products. Try out some sea salt spray for beachy looks, or maybe something like the Relaxing Moisturizing Fluid or sleek looks; the possibilities are endless.
4.- Textured Pixie Cut
Ah, the crowning glory of short haircuts; the pixie. (Just kidding; all short haircuts are created equal.) This is a super cute cut, but most women are a bit timid about going so short so fast. Although not everyone feels this way, it’s perfectly normal! Let’s be real; pixie cuts are NOT for everyone, and it’s a HUGE change from having hair down to your booty. However, for those that can rock it, it could be the best thing that’s ever happened to you! A pixie haircut like this one still looks soft, feminine, and sophisticated while giving just a *little* bit of an edge. It’s cooler in the summer, easy to style, low maintenance, and just a great look.
Pixie cuts may not be as much maintenance or take as much time to style as longer hairstyles, but it does take some getting used to. Get ready to learn to use pomade and a blow dryer every day of your life! Pixie cuts also take more salon upkeep, depending on how short you like to keep your hair. (If you like to keep it short, you might need a cut every 4 to 5 weeks.) There are so many options and different styles of pixie cuts, so play around and see what you like best! (Ask your stylist what they think might look nice on you, too!)
5.- Pixie with an Undercut
This is a haircut for when you need a little extra edge in your life. If you’re looking to be bold, this is the choice for you! I’ve worn my hair like this before, and let me tell you; it’s VERY hard to wear your hair any longer after you’ve gotten used to having it shaved. This is another super low maintenance look, but products like pomades and gels are a must for styling.
I know that for some it might seem hard to feel feminine and beautiful with a hairstyle like this one, but remember ladies; you define femininity! Find a hairstyle that makes you feel the most like you, and know that you’re beautiful as you are.
